SINGAPORE – Following an exciting start to the 2016 WTA season, the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global announced its updated match schedule and attractive ticketing bundles for this year’s event. Both the schedule and selected tickets will be available on the new WTAFinals.com website from April 29. The world’s top eight women’s tennis singles players and doubles teams will vie for the US$7 million prize purse over 8 days and 22 matches held across 11 sessions.

This year, a new Family Day will be introduced on Sunday, October 23, to kick off the crown-jewel event of the WTA calendar season. Family Day features non-stop fun with live entertainment and fan participation activities both on and off the court throughout the day, including roving mascots, tennis activities and entertainment acts. As a bonus, a specially-priced Family Day package will be on sale for a limited time to encourage fans to join this celebration of the world’s best women players gathering in Singapore for the opening session.

For the first time, singles-only sessions will feature during the first four days of the tournament from Sunday, October 23 to Wednesday, October 26, guaranteeing fans the opportunity to catch all eight players on court when they attend the first or second pair of match sessions. The doubles competition, which will commence on Thursday, October 27 will adopt an eight-team knockout format offering fans a mix of singles and doubles matches in all subsequent sessions leading to the finals.

Vice-President of WTA Asia-Pacific and Tournament Director of WTA Finals, Melissa Pine, said, “Following two outstanding years of the WTA Finals being in Singapore, the WTA continues to work closely with our partners to bring the absolute best experience to fans in this 10-day festival of sports, lifestyle, business and entertainment. We’re confident this year’s fan-friendly schedule will provide everyone with a variety of options to enjoy this unique world-class sporting experience with their families and friends. And if the start of the season is anything to go by, the quality on display come October will be top-notch, and we can look forward to eight days of captivating tennis competition amongst some of the best athletes in the world.”
