Marion Bartoli and Martina Navratilova kicked off the inaugural WTA Legends Event with an 8-5 victory over Tracy Austin and Iva Majoli on Monday.
There will also be Legends matches on Wednesday and Thursday. The players will switch partners for each match, with the best-performing player crowned as WTA Legends Champion.
"I'm looking forward to being on the court again and playing in front of the fans," Bartoli said before the start of the event. "I haven't done this for a long long time now. I think this is going to be pretty nerve-wracking in the beginning. But I'm sure everyone is going to have fun and have a great time on the court."
Navratilova has a record eight WTA Finals singles titles and a record 11 doubles titles. Austin is also a past winner of singles at the WTA Finals. While neither Bartoli or Majoli ever won this event, Bartoli made the field twice and Majoli four times.
