A sensational clay court season led to Maria Sharapova becoming the second player to qualify for the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global after Serena Williams.

Maria Sharapova has clinched second place on the Road To Singapore leaderboard, thus she will avoid a Singapore showdown with Serena Williams until at least the semifinals.

By virtue of reaching the US Open final, Serena Williams has become the first player to qualify for the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global.

Serena Williams is already in, but the WTA stars are still fighting for the other seven spots in Singapore. Who rose from No.15 to No.9 on the Road To Singapore leaderboard this week?

For much of this season, Serena Williams struggled to replicate the truly brilliant tennis she produced in her record-breaking 2013. But she has returned to form this summer.

They may have joined forces too late to qualify last season, but Cara Black and Sania Mirza look odds on to secure a place at this year's BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global.
