Singles spots at the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global have been clinched by Serena Williams, Simona Halep and Maria Sharapova, and five are still up for grabs. So, who could be next to secure their place?
Agnieszka Radwanska could make the field with a run to the final this week in Wuhan.
And Tokyo champion Ana Ivanovic, who went from eighth to fifth place on the leaderboard, ahead of newly retired Li Na, could qualify if she wins Wuhan. Her first WTA Finals appearance since 2008 would put the exclamation point on what has been a terrific year for the Serb.
"I'm really happy that this is one step closer to the WTA Finals in Singapore," Ivanovic said. "It's coming close and everything's on the line."
Eugenie Bouchard could also qualify if she is crowned in Wuhan. Others who find themselves right in the thick of things for contention include Petra Kvitova, Tokyo runner-up Caroline Wozniacki, Angelique Kerber, Dominika Cibulkova and Ekaterina Makarova.
Five of the eight doubles spots are also still available, with Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci, Hsieh Su-Wei and Peng Shuai and Makarova and Elena Vesnina having already clinched.
And five of the Top 8 teams on the leaderboard are in the Wuhan draw. A semifinal outing could potentially secure qualification for both Raquel Kops-Jones and Abigail Spears and Kveta Peschke and Katerina Srebotnik.
