Sabine Lisicki was a big climber on the Road To Singapore leaderboard this week.
Lisicki was in 71st place on the leaderboard going into Wimbledon, but a quarterfinal run there raised her all the way to 32nd place. She hovered around that spot the last couple of months.
Then in Hong Kong last week, Lisicki captured her first WTA title in more than three years, thus going from 34th place to 23rd.
Lisicki still has a very long way to go to put herself in contention for one of the six remaining spots in the draw at the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global. But she is in the draw at this week's Premier event in Tokyo, and is expected to play the following two weeks at Premier events in Wuhan and Beijing, so strong showings during these last few weeks of the WTA's Asian swing could mean a further ascension for her.
Speaking of Tokyo, a plethora of players high up on the leaderboard are in the field, led by eighth place Ana Ivanovic, ninth place Caroline Wozniacki, 10th place Angelique Kerber, 12th place Dominika Cibulkova, 13th place Sara Errani, 14th place Jelena Jankovic, 17th place Carla Suárez Navarro and 18th place Lucie Safarova.
Also, fourth place Agnieszka Radwanska is competing at the International event in Seoul.
As for doubles, several of the teams still in contention for the five remaining spots in the draw are in Tokyo, including fourth place Cara Black and Sania Mirza, fifth place Raquel Kops-Jones and Abigail Spears, seventh place Alla Kudryavtseva and Anastasia Rodionova and eighth place Garbiñe Muguruza and Suárez Navarro.
