Garcia & Jabeur Survive Day 2

Caroline Garcia battled Zhu Lin in a battle of undefeated WTA Rising Stars, while Ons Jabeur escaped defeat and outlasted Naomi Osaka in Day 2 of the WTA Rising Stars Invitational.

Two more WTA Rising Stars Invitational matches took place this morning with Caroline Garcia improving her record to 2-0, while Ons Jabeur tallied her first win of the tournament.

Jabeur and Naomi Osaka lauched Day 2 play with Osaka claiming the first set 4-2. A game from losing, Jabeur rallied back to take the second set into a tiebreaker, where the Tunisian played flawless tennis taking it 7-0. Jabeur maintained her composure in the final set, unraveling Osaka and taking the win, 2-4, 5-4(0), 4-1.

In the battle of Day 1 winners, Garcia and Zhu Lin battled back and forth in a higly-contested encounter. Garcia took the first set 5-3, but Zhu continued to test the World No. 35, brining the second set in a tiebreak. Zhu would take an early 2-0 lead in the tiebreaker, but Garcia proved too much to handle, taking the final 7 points of the match.

Tomorrow completes the round robin stage of the WTA Rising Stars Invitational, with Osaka and Zhu meeting at 2:00pm in OCBC Arena, followed by Garcia vs. Jabeur. Matches are free to watch and you can also follow the match with live streaming, available on wtafinals.com and the 2015 WTA Finals App created by SAP.

In the WTA Future Stars event, the U16 Gold Draw had all Top 4 seeds advance to the semifinals, only dropping one set between the four players. The Top 2 seeds in the U16 Silver Draw were upset, with Ashley Harvey and Yee Loon Goh set to play for the title.

In the U14 Gold Draw, Cody Wong upset top seed Mana Kawamura, while Jiayu Chu downed No.4 seed Punnin Kovapituked. Unlike the U16 Draw, the U14 Silver Draw has the Top 2 seeds set to play for the championship, with Brooke Kenny and Da Yeon Baek playing tomorrow.
