FUTURE STARS FOLLOW UP: MAHAK JAIN

Catching up with Mahak Jain, India's U14 representative at the 2014 WTA Finals.

Last week, WTAFinals.com followed up with Karman Kaur Thandi, the inaugural U16 Future Stars champion at last year’s BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SG Global. This week, we focus on Mahak Jain, India’s U14 Future Stars qualifier last year.

Jain, who turned 14 this past Wednesday, is the third-youngest player in the International Tennis Federation (ITF) junior rankings. She currently sits at No.450 and recently reached her first ITF final at a Grade 5 event in India. Last month, she won the National series titles in Hyderabad and Mumbai in the U16 division. She represented India in the Asia/Oceania qualifications of the World Junior Competition, leading them to Prostejov, Czech Republic in August for a shot at the World title.

She is currently training for her 5-week tour in Europe after she participated in two Asian Qualification tournaments in Thailand in March and won both of them. As a result, she was selected for the Young Stars ITF Junior U14 Europe Circuit, where she gets to play tournaments in France, The Netherlands, Germany and Belgium beginning in July. In August, she will play in the UK Masters U14 event, held at the ground of Wimbledon, after winning the Junior Road to Wimbledon event in Delhi.

After a busy summer, Jain will then focus her sights on a return to Singapore in the Future Stars event in October.
