WTA Finals Tournament Director Melissa Pine helped lead a Future Stars clinic in Jakarta, Indonesia with 28 up-and-coming juniors from various provinces. Prior to the clinic, Pine spoke with the participants about her history in competitive tennis before transitioning into the business end of the sport. The main focus of her speech was to figure out and then pursue their dreams, Shevita Aulana, the 2014 U14 Indonesian Future Stars representative and Rifanty Kahfiany, the U16 representative, were also present for the speech and clinic.The Indonesia qualifying tournament is the third in 2015, following Taipei and Cambodia.
The Junior Road to Singapore Future Stars clinics are a series of events throughout Asia-Pacific promoting tennis and the WTA Finals. Last year the WTA hosted the inaugural Future Stars competition, as 18 markets in the Asia-Pacific were invited to take part in the 2015 WTA Future Stars program. Each host Under 14 and Under 16 qualifying events in the hopes of sending their best young players to the WTA Future Stars event at the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global.
The Junior Road to Singapore will culminate at the WTA Finals in Singapore with the Future Stars event, where an Under-16 winner and an Under-14 winner from tournaments around the Asia-Pacific region will be crowned.
