The WTA Future Stars program features competition for young girls across the Asia-Pacific region with a vision to promote high-level athlete development, health, fitness and empowerment of women through tennis.

The qualifiers from each country in the program will compete at the Kallang Tennis Centre on October 17-19, in conjunction with the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global, with the finals being played on Center Court at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on October 20. The players will also get to meet with some of this year's WTA Finals' stars and Legends.

Ashley Yim was the 14 and under winner and Nicole Tan the 16 and under winner for Singapore. Monica Cruz was the 14 and under winner and Rafaella Villanueva the 16 and under winner for the Philippines.

"I was nervous playing because I knew how important this tournament is, but I fought through the nerves and am happy to have won," Yim said. "I am very excited to play in the Future Stars tournament and hope to meet my favorite tennis player, Maria Sharapova!"

"I'm happy to have qualified for the Future Stars," Tan said. "I've worked really hard and am glad to have made it through today. I'm really excited to meet with the WTA players because I've never met any professional players before, so it will be a really great experience."

Other countries who will also have WTA Future Stars from each age group competing in Singapore will be Indonesia, Malaysia, Laos, Hong Kong, Thailand, China, India, Japan and Vietnam.

In addition to their on-court experience, each WTA Future Stars qualifier will participate in a community project in their local market.
