CONSISTENCY DRIVES IVANOVIC'S FINALS PUSH

Ana Ivanovic's reward for a wonderfully consistent year is a place among tennis' elite at the the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global.

Ana Ivanovic set the tone for a campaign characterized by its consistency Down Under, picking up the title in Auckland before reaching the quarterfinals at the Australian Open, where her winning streak was finally halted by an inspired Eugenie Bouchard.

After a couple of below-par outings in Indian Wells and Miami, the Serb returned to form with her second title of the year, in Monterrey. She continued to impress as the tour moved to Europe for the clay court season, deep runs in Stuttgart, Madrid and Rome earmarking her as a dark horse for the French Open.

It was not to be in Paris, Lucie Safarova dashing her hopes of reclaiming the Coupe Suzanne Lenglen in the third round.

An equally bitter disappointment was to come a few weeks later, though. Having dusted herself off to win the Wimbledon warm-up event in Birmingham, Ivanovic again fluffed her lines on the big stage, this time tripping up against Sabine Lisicki in a rain-interrupted third round clash at the All-England Club.

The summer brought another final, this time in Cincinnati, where she lost to the irrepressible Serena Williams before yet more major heartbreak in the shape of a second round loss to big-serving Karolina Pliskova at the US Open.

With a place at the the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global now beckoning, there was no danger of her campaign petering out. Ivanovic raised herself once more, producing some of her best tennis to triumph in Tokyo and reach the semifinals in Beijing, breathing new life into a season that could yet finish on the highest of highs.
