With her run to the US Open final, Caroline Wozniacki has ensured a big ascension up the standings.
Wozniacki already was on a steady rise this summer, as she was No.27 after Roland Garros, No.20 after Wimbledon and No.15 coming into the US Open after a strong hardcourt season highlighted by a title in Istanbul and a semifinal appearance in Cincinnati.
Even if she falls to Williams in Sunday's final, Wozniacki will climb to ninth place and just outside one of the eight qualification spots for October's BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global. And if she captures her first Grand Slam title, she will move all the way up to fifth place.
Wozniacki has qualified for the WTA Finals three times, with her best outing being a runner-up showing in 2010 in Doha.
Williams is the only player who has already qualified for a singles spot for this year's event.
