Caroline Wozniacki made the biggest headlines on the Road To Singapore leaderboard, climbing from 20th to 17th place after capturing her 22nd WTA title and first of this season at the TEB BNP Paribas Istanbul Cup.
Wozniacki sat in 28th place and well out of contention for one of Singapore's eight singles sports coming into Eastbourne on June 16, but a semifinal showing there lifted her to 23rd place. A fourth round outing at Wimbledon raised her three more spots. And then she went up three spots again after her triumph in Istanbul.
Wozniacki still has her work cut out for her to qualify for the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global, but she should like her chances to pick up lots of points in the coming months during the Emirates Airline US Open Series - as she has had lots of success in those tournaments in the past.
Wozniacki has qualified for the WTA Finals three times previously, reaching the semifinals in 2009, the final in 2010 and falling in round robin play in 2011.
Pre-tournament festivities for Singapore start on October 17, with tournament play going from October 20 to 26.
