Two spots at the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global have been nabbed, and six remain.
With Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova having clinched two of the eight available spots at October's BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Glocal, who else has a good chance to secure a berth during the WTA's Asian swing?
Third place Simona Halep would seem a likely candidate. She is next in action in two weeks at the inaugural Premier-level event in Wuhan, which offers 900 ranking points to the winner and 585 to the runner-up.
Fourth place Agnieszka Radwanska will have a couple of upcoming opportunities to pick up points, as she is competing at the International event in Seoul next week, as well as in Wuhan.
Fifth place Petra Kvitova is also scheduled to be in Wuhan, where sixth place Li Na is scheduled to make her return from a knee injury after being out of action since Wimbledon. Seventh place Bouchard will be there too, and eighth place Ana Ivanovic will be at the Premier event in Tokyo next week, as well as Wuhan.
After September, the next tournament with a plethora of points up for grabs will be the last of the season's four Premier Mandatory events in Beijing.
