Following an up-and-down start to the year, Kvitova arrived in south-west London down at No.16 on the Road To Singapore leaderboard. However, as on so many occasions in the past, the hallowed turf of the All-England Club has brought out the best in the Czech, who on Thursday overcame compatriot Lucie Safarova to reach her second final.
This run will see Kvitova rise to No.9 on the leaderboard, while victory over WTA Rising Star Eugenie Bouchard in the final will push her into the Top 8 and one of the qualification spots for the season-ending showpiece.
Bouchard already occupies one of these spots thanks to her outstanding start to the season, and she has taken a significant step towards securing her place in Singapore with her performance at Wimbledon.
Victory over Simona Halep in the semifinals, guarantees that the Canadian will rise to at least No.4 on the leaderboard. Should she lift the title, she will jump to No.3, behind only Maria Sharapova (No.1) and Halep (No.2).
The other qualification berths at the end Wimbledon will be occupied by Li Na (No.3 or No.4*), Serena Williams (No.5), Agnieszka Radwanska (No.6), Ana Ivanovic (No.7) and Dominika Cibulkova (No.8 or No.9*).
