Three spots have now been clinched at the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global, and five remain. So, who has the best chance to join Serena Williams, Maria Sharapova and Simona Halep in Singapore?
Well, Agnieszka Radwanska is currently in fourth place on the leaderboard, and is the favorite this week in Seoul, where a victory could bring her that much closer to qualifying. She is also scheduled to play the following two weeks at the Premier events in Wuhan and Beijing, so will have plenty of opportunities to pick up points.
This week's event in Tokyo features a host of players high up on the leaderboard, led by eighth place Ana Ivanovic, ninth place Caroline Wozniacki, 10th place Angelique Kerber, 12th place Dominika Cibulkova, 13th place Sara Errani and 14th place Jelena Jankovic. None of them are out of contention for Singapore.
And though she is not in action this week, fifth place Petra Kvitova will be in Wuhan and Beijing, so certainly will be eyeing qualification.
As for doubles, several of the teams still in contention for the five remaining spots in Singapore are in Tokyo, including fourth place Cara Black and Sania Mirza, fifth place Raquel Kops-Jones and Abigail Spears, seventh place Alla Kudryavtseva and Anastasia Rodionova and eighth place Garbiñe Muguruza and Carla Suárez Navarro. And though they're not competing this week, sixth place Kveta Peschke and Katarina Srebotnik are in good shape for potential qualification as of now.
