Agnieszka Radwanska was one of four players with a chance to qualify for the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global with a deep US Open run. However, her second round upset loss reduced that list to three, and gave several players a chance to pass her for fourth place on the Road To Singapore leaderboard.
Sixth place Petra Kvitova, seventh place Eugenie Bouchard, ninth place Angelique Kerber, 11th place Jelena Jankovic and 12th place Sara Errani all have a shot depending on how far they go at Flushing Meadows.
Also, with fifth place Li Na's knee injury keeping her out of the US Open, Kvitova will surpass her and quite a few other players also have a chance.
Finally, Ana Ivanovic went into the US Open in eighth place, which would give her the final qualifying spot if the WTA Finals field was held today. But her second round loss also gives many players the opportunity to jump her.
As for actually clinching a spot, first place Maria Sharapova and second place Simona Halep will if they make the semifinals. However, since they will play each other in the quarterfinals if they get that far, only one of them will have a chance to secure a berth during this fortnight. Third place Serena Williams will qualify if she makes the final at Flushing Meadows.
