Getting the season off to a good start was something that was very important for me this year. I was able to play a lot of matches in Australia, reaching the quarterfinals at Brisbane, the finals at Sydney and the round of 16 at the Australian Open. Overall, I am feeling good. I had a great start for the year and I keep on trying to improve my tennis more and more. Each and every week and every time I step on court, my goal is to improve my tennis.
During the off-season, I trained in Doha for about two weeks. For me, it was the best possible place to train. The people are so nice and it's always sunny. It definitely helped me get ready for those conditions during the Australian swing when the heat was a challenge. I spent a lot of time working on my stamina and conditioning this off-season and the hard work definitely paid off. I was happy with the results and I feel that I moved very well.
I am really looking forward to coming back to Doha. I have great memories from my off-season workouts. Of course, it was tough work at times, but I have a great team. And they were there to support me from the first day. I was able to train on some of the main courts. Any time you are able to practice in such a setting, it helps to work on your game, shots and preparation.
I was there for two weeks, and we were able to get away from the courts a few times. The City Center shopping mall has everything you would want in a mall, and you can even go ice skating in the middle of the mall. The hotel we stayed at was so nice, and even has a beach right outside where we spent some time.
In case you missed it, I was able to take some video of my training sessions (here!) I love being able to share with my fans what goes on behind the scenes at my practices. It's difficult to find time during the season to film the videos, but I will work on sharing some more footage with you all soon.
Thanks for all your support and be sure to follow me on Twitter and Facebook!
